About the Airport
The Airport is situated 9 km southwest of Alicante city. More than 80% of passengers that
disembark at the Airport are international passengers. Most of the passengers are from the
UK, Germany and the Netherlands. In 2010, Alicante handled more than 9 million passengers,
making it one of the busiest Spanish airports. The Airport originally had two terminals.
However, with the opening of a brand new terminal that is six times the size of both the old
terminal put together, the old terminals were closed off in 2011. Now all flights are handled
through the new terminal. The Airport consists of 96 check-in counters, 40 gates, 15 air bridges
and 16 baggage carousels. The building of the new terminal ensures that all passengers arriving
at the Airport are comfortable.
